3 Minute Thesis is Back! Are you ready?
Do you love your research? Happy to talk about it for hours? Looking for a challenge?
Well here is your chance!
This March we will once again be holding the annual 3 Minute Thesis competition!
These adorable little bugs will be exclusively available at the event. Can you resist?
So what is 3MT?
3MT is a competition where you will have three minutes to explain your thesis. Sounds easy right? I mean we could all talk for hours about our research, so what is three minutes? But you see, it is within the time limit that the challenge lies. It takes great skill to simplify and condense a project which has been years in the making into a short presentation - whilst still maintaining the integrity and essence of the research. Don’t believe me? Try it now - grab your nearest friend and try to tell them, in the simplest terms about your research. I’ll wait.
How long did it take? Did you trivialise your work to keep their interest? Did they understand what you do with your life? Would a stranger?
The ability to summarise and explain your work succinctly is one of the greatest skills a researcher can have and, as with most things, practice makes perfect. So why not give it a try?
We will provide a two hour long coaching session to get your talking skills in tip top shape - and on the day there will be all the tea and coffee you can drink as well as some very large and exceptionally tasty cookies!
Oh, did I forget to mention the prizes?
The winner of the competition will receive a £1000 research/travel grant, the runner up will receive a £500 research/travel grant and the People’s Choice will score a £100 voucher.
Interested? Then come and visit our Moodle for more information and to register. Registration opens on Monday 14th January!
